About FII

WHO - Forestry Innovation Investment (FII) is a Crown Agency of the Province of British Columbia (B.C.), Canada. FII works with the Government of British Columbia, Government of Canada, independent academic and research institutes, trade associations and wood products companies to support an environmentally sustainable and globally competitive forest sector in B.C.


WHY - The majority of B.C. forest products (lumber, panels, specialty products, pulp and paper) are sold outside Canada. In fact, B.C. is Canada’s, and the world’s, largest exporter of forest products and a global leader in sustainable forest management. It is unique among the world’s leading forest producers because 95% of its land base is publicly owned, and forest activities on public land must follow strict forest management laws.


WHAT - This website serves as a comprehensive information resource that brings together the latest, most reliable data about wood performance, climate change and life cycle assessment, as well as B.C.’s wide variety of forest products, manufacturers, sustainable forest practices, certification of forests and wood products, and more.
